Cool music, cool graphics and effects, addictive plot.. A cool beat'em up game, reminiscent of childhood games. Very difficult, but the music is excellent. Also liked the humor in the game, although it is quite black ;).. First of all, I don't like coffee. It's just not my thing. But I do like brawlets and beat'em up-s from the 8/16 bit era. I also happen to own the Megadrive version of Coffee Crisis and it's a breath of fresh air for a really good console. The guys at Megacat really did their homework and channelled the spirit of the classic beat'em ups really well. Of course it is not perfect but given it's a brand new game for a 28 year-old console: it's fantastic, it's precious.I purchased the PC version when it came out and it's full of the same warm retro feel. The game does use the same authentic pixel artwork and feeling but obviously has "HD" elements just to give a bit of an extra to make it even better. There is transparency, filter effects, lighting effects, brand new music to make it appealing if someone wouldn't into the all-pixel and FM synth world and high resolution icons and messages. Overall I really enjoy playing the PC release (actually on a Mac) but since it is re-made in Unity the platform makes absolutely no difference here. If I want a brawler with stunning graphics I can find plenty in the Steam store - but to actually play a retro themed one without firing my Megadrive up it is really great. I do admit the fact I have grown up on 8/16 bit computers and consoles is one of the reasons why I like this game. The rest is the fluid gameplay and humour - I mean which game lets you to beat your enemies with a coffee bag?. The plot is nonsensical, which is intentional, but it's also just plain bad. (And the text is annoying to scroll through, which really doesn't help.)The controls are sluggish, too - there's a few frames between you hitting the jump button and the character actually jumping. And the difficulty ramps up quickly, which isn't fun. So you mash buttons (there's only one attack button, no interesting combos!) until you win or die, occasionally maneuvering to avoid the worst of the attackers. And there aren't any save slots - just codes. I get that this is recreating the Games Of Yore, but I *played* those, and save codes were the feature I missed least.. As a native "yinzer" I have to say that this game hits all the right chords with me. Mega Cat's attention to the Pittsbugh culture makes this game not only fun, but also introduces the world to the pride that we Pittsburghers have for our city. I love this game. Yinz guys have to try it!. Cool retro style game, beat it in like a hour tho. Thumbs down...it has potential but needs some big improvements. This is far from Streets of Rage 2 or Scott Pilgrim the game. First off and my biggest complaint is you die way to fast/enemies take too much damage to kill. On top of that, one second youll fight 3 or 4 enemies, the next screen you face over a dozen all swarming you at once. Some stages tended to drag on and on, normal difficulty was just too much of a slog and cheap, switched to easy and spammed the spinning special move(along with watching my health) to get through the game. Charged attacks are pointless because of the enemy swarms, you cant block/evade and there is a slight delay when jump kicking as well. Even picking up weapons just takes too long. There is also no "arcade" mode, so youll have to either watch or skip the cutscenes...and on the topic of story, im not entirely convinced 2 baristas listen to heavy metal let alone know how to fight. The hud is a mess too. I had no idea how many lives i had, or how much health i had until about 45 min into the game. Where it *should* be lies a combo gauge because...i guess the devs though that's the most important thing, right?? Your health is a thin yellow half circle on the left side and your lives are displayed as coffee bags- in the top middle of the screen. The combo gauge and life should be switched and the number of lives displayed under the life bar. I love the graphics, the soundtrack is really good and it controls ok. I just hope they fix most of this stuff before the eventual Switch/PS4 ports and come back to update the Steam port as well.. Classic 8-bit fighting game. We play for a rocker who loves coffee. You can play together on one computer or in a cooperative network. We beat the aliens and their zombified puppets who want to steal all the coffee. On the way there will be different weapons and bonuses. The soundtrack will be pleasant for those who adore heavy reefs.. Coffee Crisis is one of the worst beat'em up games i played. Boring, repetative and way too hard, because enemies will spawn in random numbers, one time you will fight 3 enemies and another time 30. There are also random modifiers that mostly will ♥♥♥♥ you up even more. There are only 3 attacks you can do, and no evade/block option. Most of the times enemies will shoot you instanlty, leaving you without a chance to do anything. Story is weird, combat mechanic suck♥♥♥♥♥ even that metal soundtrack doesnt really help this game. Not recommended.. A weird beat 'em up! Honestly, I can't get enough of these weird beat 'em up games. Reminds me of all the old NES games I used to rent in high school. It's an interesting game, has a kind of a unique story, and can be pretty unforgiving at times.
